About the Author
Evan Cason is the author of Beyond the Street Lamp: A Memoir of Survival, Recovery, and Becoming Useful, a deeply personal story about addiction, survival, redemption, and the long road toward becoming useful.
Evan’s life did not follow a straight path. After years of hardship, poor choices, and personal battles, he found recovery and slowly rebuilt his life into something meaningful. Today, he works in the behavioral health field as the Director of Patient Engagement at Aspire Counseling Services, helping individuals and families take the first step toward treatment and healing. He holds multiple credentials in substance use counseling and anger management, and brings both lived experience and professional experience to his work.
Before his work in behavioral health, Evan also served as a wildland firefighter, an experience that shaped his understanding of discipline, resilience, and service. His writing is rooted in honesty, accountability, and the belief that even the most broken parts of a person’s story can be used to help someone else.
Evan wrote this book for the person who thinks they are too far gone, too damaged, or too late to change. His life is proof that survival can become service, and pain can become purpose.
He lives in California with his wife, Jessica, and their family.
